Mexico - Los Altos Tzeltal
This exquisite coffee originates from Los Altos, Chiapas. Upon tasting the medium roast, one may experience a fleeting moment of Nirvana. This information serves not only to praise its outstanding quality, but also as a caution that others may feel neglected as you bask in its pure state of bliss.
The Tzeltal people, one of the main indigenous Mayan groups in Mexico, inhabit this highland region of Chiapas and speak Tzeltal as their first language. They uphold their traditions and culture through their own customs and laws. The community is known as "Winik atel", or "Working Men". The hills and valleys of Chiapas are home to Los Altos, situated at an elevation of 1,600-1,850 meters above sea level. This area is abundant in marble stone, which covers the ground in the cool primary forests that border the Lacandona jungle. Coffee plants grow alongside native species, often organically due to the surrounding environment.
